I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up as a Calder nominee next season.

"With respect to his size, as it continues to be the main focus when discussing his potential, I’ve watched a good number of poops from the forward so far"

Might want to fix that….unless this is some form of advanced scouting.

"... so Johnny will need to ensure that he doesn’t get too “cocky” and pick up any bad habits which could cost the Flames points during the regular season."

From all accounts I've heard around the webs this is the last thing on earth that Gaudreau is, although to be fair I'm sure even a nun is bound to get cocky once or twice in a lifetime.

A nice lil gem I found during my browsing:
"Obi-John Gaudreaubi: This is not the puck you're looking for. -kermitology"

Make or break exciting times abound for next year and future years for sure!

What I was trying to explain is that certain players find early success with flashy type plays, become "cocky" in their play, and suddenly become a one dimensional type player. See Nazem Kadri.

Gaudreau needs to ensure that he doesnt cross the line where he becomes an offensive first guy at the NHL level and that his dipsy doodle moves dont cost his team turnovers etc.

Indeed and I agree it's not hard to fall into a trap like that and become complacent, and is a well warranted concern and hope that it isn't an issue in the near future.

Gaudreau's a guy I see/feel is never being happy with his present skills, from what I've seen he's pretty good at being responsible with the puck. I've never followed Kadri much really so I couldn't have the same feeling for him, you have, so I trust your insight

I'm sure there will be a time when Gaudreau might start in that direction but with Hartley, Treliving and Burke being big 200-ft game preachers I can't see it being a long term issue should it ever rear its head in JG's game.

100%...having the right team of coaches/trainers can really make the difference between how a player develops. I am really impressed with Hartley's coaching style and I do believe that he and Treliving will do a good job at rounding out this team for some near future success.

From all I've seen and heard, Gaudreau has worked hard at different aspects of his game while in college, particularly his defensive game. I think he'll continue to work hard to not become 1 dimensional.. I think he understands that to keep defenders on their toes and thus give him space, he has to remain somewhat unpredictable.

I get what you are trying to say

Actually the one thing that I took away from his game vs. Vancouver last year was his ability to create turn overs and cause confusion while on the forecheck/backcheck. A couple of times he snuck in behind and lifted a couple sticks and stole the puck. Another time him made a great anticipation play behind the Vancouver net and knocked a pass out of mid-air which resulted in a great scoring chance for the flames. So not only did he appear to create plays when the puck was on his stick, but he looked like the type of guy who has the ability to break up the opposition and lead the counter attack as well.

I mean let's face it. He's small. He's probably gonna shy away in the corners a bit and it's smart of him to do so. I think in his case the good is going so surpass the bad far and away

So, I am thinking it would be prudent to have a RW that can put the fear of god into anyone whom messes with Inspector Gaudreau. Might be a perfect fit for the Wolf!
